Before we moved to Lewes, DE four years ago, we spent over forty years in Virginia—the last 30 of which were in our home in Great Falls.
What some of you might not know is that each winter, we maintained a tradition of commissioning a work of art from an up-and-coming artist to be displayed in our backyard.
The week before Christmas we would hold an unveiling soiree where our friends would show up in the holiday finest - some even wearing masks with feathers.
After the winter season the art was shipped to its permanent home at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
In 2020, we commissioned a piece from an artist named Giuseppe that captured the strange spirit of that year—specifically referencing the 'monolith' craze that began in the Utah desert that November.
Entitled 'Adoration of the Baby Monolith,' it remains one of our most provocative acquisitions.
As this Holiday Season approaches I hope you enjoy this journey back to the end of 2020.
It truly was a memorable year...
